Wow! Weather!

Who says Southern California doesn’t have seasons or a real winter?  At the risk of people figuring out where I live…oh what the heck…there was snow on the ground in Southern California last night!  Well…it looked like snow.  It was actually hail but what’s the difference?  It piled up on the ground in respectable little drifts and there was still a little around in the morning!  I slept in my van last night so I feel like I have bragging rights now.  I was as snug as a bug in a rug in my wonderful sleeping bag.

Now it’s mid-day and 70 degrees.  Anyone up for the beach?!!

My daughter’s coming to visit from school today.  We’re going to stay at T and Js house.  T and J invited me for Christmas too.  My daughter is going to leave in a couple of days to be with my mom and some other family members, with my blessing.  My other daughter will be with her boyfriend.  I have to stay where I am and work.  This will be my first Christmas in a long time without family around.  I think it will be okay.

I went to the laundry mat at 630 am today and I love going at that time because it seems like the clientele at the laundry mat is a little better.  Then again, maybe everything looks a little safer in daylight.  I usually go at night.  Still with hours from 6am-11pm, what a good hangout.  Kinda warm and has a pay bathroom.  Definitely a go-to spot.

Took a nap in the van just now and it was so warm and cozy.  I love my little van!

About Maureen, Living in a Van

I'm a free-sleeper living in a van in the prettiest part of the world. I do this partly due to financial circumstances and partly because I love a good adventure.

Looks like you’re getting used to it now. Maybe you’ll come to prefer it in the future. You’re out in public all the time, the world is your home. A housed person has only one home.

The weather has been crazy lately. Seems like a La Nina pattern or something. It’s been years since we had this much rain.

I like it in many ways Ryu. I’ve gotten past a lot of fears. Now I need to make the van more comfy. My legs feel pretty cramped sometimes. I’m thinking about taking out the back bench and putting an air mattress on the floor. Sounds like heaven!
