I’m still in the van. Tonight I woke up and there was an undercover cop across the street from me.  I should have kept my head down. He’s probably a narcotics cop or something so hopefully he won’t tell any of his buddies if he saw me. I’m so dumb.

Ryu made a comment after my last post about finding out of the way places to sleep. Interestingly, I found an empty apartment complex by accident yesterday.  Very interesting.

About Maureen, Living in a Van

I'm a free-sleeper living in a van in the prettiest part of the world. I do this partly due to financial circumstances and partly because I love a good adventure.

    Good job.

With the now permanent depression, there ought to be many such places. Keep an eye on that place; drive by it or walk by it when you can. Take note of when people are there, and who can see it.

Odds are that if that cop was on the job, he just made a mental note of your presence. Maybe a note in his field notes. Just part a little bit away to disappear. Just 50 feet can make a difference if it’s done right.

Some unscrupulous individuals might sneak into that apartment at night and leave before first light. Sometimes, those manage such a living for years at a time. When they leave the light off inside, park in a far away place and walk to the apartment, and are quiet, they are almost undetectable.

Was the cop there because the abandoned apartment complex attracted illegal activity? There are sites that talk about strategies for parking. Cheap rv living or something like that.
