I’ve had a toothache for the last few days, off and on.

Everyone says just go to the dentist but even if I had hundreds of dollars lying around, I probably wouldn’t spend it on a tooth.

I am using advil and then I am also using cloves to kill the pain.  Actually I am out of advil this morning, so just cloves at the moment.  It is somewhat effective.  Cloves have a numbing effect.  I should say, you have to be careful with cloves.  If you ingest too much it can be harmful to your body.  I’m not sure how much is too much so I try to spit out any saliva that forms while the cloves are in my mouth, rather than swallow it.  I am using ground cloves.  I rub them on my gums above the tooth that is hurting.

Like I said, this has been off and on with the pain.  Sometimes it goes away by itself, then comes back.  I think I am grinding my teeth when I sleep.  I’m sure I clench because I wake up that way.  Maybe I will have to get one of those thing-ies you put in your mouth while you sleep that keeps you from grinding your teeth away.  I just looked it up and apparently it’s called a mouth guard and you can get a cheapo at a sporting good store, soften it up in hot water and fit it to your mouth.  So says the web doctor.  I think I’m going to try that.  I will use the stove at my house sitting job next week to make the hot water.

I’m looking foward to house-sitting.  There are two jobs back to back covering about a week.  I can do some of the stuff I usually can’t do, while I am there.  One thing is cleaning my memory foam thing I have in my van to sleep on.  That thing has got to be pretty dirty.  I’m going to soak it with simple green, let it sit for a while, hose it down and let it dry in the sun all day.  That should fix it.  I try to wash my blankets a lot because I’m sure they get dusty and stuff.  I don’t want to have allergies again.

A couple of weeks ago, for around 3 weeks I had allergies pretty bad.  It was affecting my eyes.  They were really itchy and the more I itched them the worse they got.  It was kind of embarrassing but almost everyone said they hardly noticed.  I thought my eyes looked pretty red and small.

Okay so I guess I’m having an old lately moment talking about all my ailments.  Ugh.  I ALMOST went to the doctor.  I have free insurance now from the gubermint but I figured they would say, “Yup” you have allergies.  Take some Claritin.  I don’t need to see a doctor to do that.  I got some off brand Claritin and it helped a little.  Then it finally went away by itself.   We REALLY don’t need to go running to the doctor for every little thing.  It’s a waste of time and money.  The internet has LOTS of advice on everything.  I even saw this one guy who cured his own hemorrhoids.  I’m not going to tell you how he did it because it sounds very nasty.  THAT one, I wouldn’t try!  (Clarification:  I don’t have hemorrhoids)

Alright, now that I’ve grossed myself out, I will sign off.  Have a beautiful day!

It could be a real problem or just something temporary.

If it’s a real issue, just get it taken out. You remember TwoDog? He used to remove his own teeth when that occured, with a plier. The dentist can extract a tooth for about $100.

They will at first try to sell you some expensive solution, but at your age, it’s no good.

Are you close enough to the border to go to a dentist in Mexico? There are some good dentists there, and not horribly expensive (compared to the USA). (There are probably also bad dentists, so be sure to look up reviews ifi you decide to do that.)

If it is infected, you will need antibiotics for it, before it abscesses. There are some great dentists in Mexico at 20% the cost of the USA side!
