Smorgasbord Post

I had a good night in the van last night.  I think this was the quietest spot yet.  I was so comfortable I didn’t jump up at 6am as soon as my alarm went off.  Then I heard a jogger run past and someone took their trash cans to the curb.  The next time I stay there, I’ll make sure it isn’t on a Sunday night so I don’t have to worry about the trash bringer-outers seeing me.  Not that I have to worry too much, once it’s morning….but still.

By the way, I am keeping a dated list of where I spend my nights.  I might make a note if I like the place or not.  I’m mostly keeping the list so that I don’t stay in any spot too often.  It would be nice if it was just once a month at each place and not on the same day of the week every time.  I’m not sure if I’ll be able to pull that off or not.  I’m also writing down what I’ve eaten that day.

I haven’t been eating very well.  I’ve been fast fooding it a lot and that has to stop.  I usually eat organic, free range, anti-biotic free…well, you get the idea.  So last night I bought some canned chicken and some Dinty Moore Beef Stew.  I’ll also get a bag of lettuce or something later…In winter I’ll be able to get lettuce the day before and it will stay cool enough in my van overnight.  If I want, I could also keep eggs and make raw egg smoothies of some sort.  I don’t want to do heavy duty food prep in my van though.  The idea here is to live simply and cheaply.  I also don’t want to have to clean a bunch of dishes, pans etc.  If I’m going to do that, I might as well try to live in a house or condo again.  If I am going to do this van living thing, risking being looked down on, taking safety risks, etc. I want to enjoy the benefits too.  Some of the benefits as I see them are very little housekeeping, “forced” to work out at the gym since that’s where the shower is, simple, and disciplined eating.

Well I guess that’s enough from me!  Have a great day!
