Ryu asked me these questions about the Soup Kitchen I’ve been going to.

Ryu:  Well, at least you don’t need TV or a newspaper to be entertained.  What’s it like being a regular at a soup kitchen? Do you say hi to servers you see often?

Maureen:  Yes I do and I happened to run into one of the men twice in one day around town.  He followed me to my van even!  He is actually homeless himself but also volunteers.

Ryu:  I must be completely wrong in how I see it.  I imagine something like the bread lines I saw in the Soviet Union.

Maureen:  That’s what I imagined too and i thought the food would be maybe bread and some thin soup like something out of Dickens.  not so!

Ryu:  They don’t call you out and demand you stop coming and get a job?

Maureen:  No.  They don’t ask us for any proof that we are poor and they treat us with a lot of respect.   They are very, very kind people.

Ryu:  Perhaps its more like the good samaritan who trys to convert you?

Maureen:  Not at this place although at some of the places in town I hear that in order to receive certain things you have to listen to the sermon first.  I haven’t attended any of these things yet.

    Hi Maureen,

Just came across your blog and I wanted to RSS it. The one icon you have that looks like I could do that Google no longer does.

Let me know if there’s a way I can subscribe via an RSS and that would be great. Thank you, I’m Mike
