    • OMG!!! That sounds like our worst nightmare as single female vandwellers.  It wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be.  It helped that I was on the phone with someone so I didn’t feel alone.

The police what would they say anyways? I agree.  All they can do is fill out the report after I’m injured, robbed, raped or dead.  Doesn’t help me now at all.

    • . I usually have my curtains up and in bed before 11pm so perhaps those type of guys come out later looking for their type of fun.  I had never had anything like this happen before either and I’ve been doing this on and off…mostly on….for a year although, I too am usually in bed pretty early.  I wouldn’t assume anything though….protect yourself!  I was in one of the nicest neighborhoods you could find too.

    • If that happened to me I wouldn’t go back into that area ever. I AM going to go back.  I will be ready next time.  I’m ready now.  I just prefer not to deal with it just yet.

    •  I sleep with my keys and cell phone right by me.  A friend suggested to me that I take my car key off the chain and keep it in the ignition while I sleep.  This way, if I need to bug out, I can just jump up, turn the key and go…no fumbling around.  I cover the steering wheel with a cloth so no one can see the key.  I also have protection.

    • Big hugs and hope this doesn’t keep you from living in a van.  No it won’t.  If I get injured then I may have to rethink things but I feel like I can handle this.

Maureen, I don’t know what to say. That is SO SCARY.

I am praying for your safety.  Thank you, my dear.  🙂

WoW what a creep! I wouldn’t go back there for a long time. if you see him again make sure you get his licence plate number. Take a picture of him with your phone and please CALL the police the next time!!!  Yah I wish I had taken his photo with my cell phone camera….next time!

Interesting. I can’t relate to the fear since I am not a woman. Well, do what you must. Keep your nose in the wind and your eyes on the skyline.  Hahaha Ryu…if things were different and you had a bunch of women wanting to rape you, you’d be scared too….or would you.  😛

About Maureen, Living in a Van

I'm a free-sleeper living in a van in the prettiest part of the world. I do this partly due to financial circumstances and partly because I love a good adventure.

What a strange effect you have on men. I’d rather see you living out in the desert like TwoDog. Javalinas, coyotes, and bobcats are all less dangerous game than man.

Yeah, the piggys aren’t much good. You’d probably get more trouble when they learned about your free-sleeping.

A woman’s most dangerous weapon is her feminity. It’s not kung fu, guns, or sharp sticks. I’m sure if you use your feminine cunning and trickery you can find a solution.
