Old Witch

witch-showing-the-money-isolated-on-whiteI worked for an old witch today.  She doesn’t know where I live but she knows I struggle financially.  She was a witch to me.  She has Alzheimer’s so I take that into consideration but I may not work for her again.  I told her that I didn’t like the way she talked to me.  She said that is part of “work”.  I said, “not for me”.  After 2.5 hours of it I said I had to go and that she didn’t have to pay me at all.  I just had to get out of there.  She paid me anyway and I’m sure we can be friends.  I’d rather help her out for free so I’m not obligated to stay too long.

I know most people think I’m stupid or somehow morally corrupt because I won’t take abuse in order to obtain a few federal reserve notes but I don’t care.

About Maureen, Living in a Van

I'm a free-sleeper living in a van in the prettiest part of the world. I do this partly due to financial circumstances and partly because I love a good adventure.

One year , I’d lost my fulltime job ( recession ) and was getting by with nothing but temp jobs. It was a good year , I got fired three times because I didn’t feel the need to put up with the abuse part timers get.

I’ve been incredibly lucky to never have a boss like “that”. But if I ever had, my primary job would become looking for a different job under a different boss. Life’s too short …

And, by the way, good for speaking up for yourself! I’ve watched too many co-workers who were miserable because of out-of-line behavior by their bosses, but they never had the cojones to point it out.

Yup. If she ever asks herself why she’s lonely, maybe my words will come back to her and she will learn something. Hard to say.

  4. I can do the worst jobs on earth , as long as the people I work for or with are nice , polite , cordial , and appreciate my labor , Bad attitudes like the witch will have me walking as well .
