New Plans?

I’m thinking about trying to get a live-in situation with an elderly person or couple.  I’ve been free-sleeping in my van off and on for close to a year and I think it may be time to do something different for a while.  For those of you that have been following along, I had a little situation with a stalker type last week.  While I’m not living in constant fear or anything, it would really by yucky if someone broke into my van and tried to hurt me.

I definitely don’t want to pay rent.  I’m sure there is a nice older person or couple that could use an able bodied person to keep them company in the evening….perhaps cook them dinner or help with laundry, in return for free rent.  I’m not sure I’d want to do it every evening.  Everyone should be off duty sometimes. I think it would be good 5 nites a week.

What do you all think?

I'm a free-sleeper living in a van in the prettiest part of the world. I do this partly due to financial circumstances and partly because I love a good adventure.

Sounds like a good idea. Make sure when doing something like this that you lay down what you can and can’t do. Elderly people sometimes have a way of trying to get you to do things more than you want. Not all of course LOL but I have heard of stories.

Sounds like alot of trouble to go to trying a avoid this dude. To break into a van, with a person inside, would take a tremendous amount of guts. Most people, including criminals, are not capable of it.

Probably you’ve avoided the old parking lot and the places you used to go. I’m sure there’s alot of trickery you could use even if the guy is still patrolling those places. You could call 9-11, play the distressed woman, saying some guy is following your car and gosh! you’re scared.

That sounds like a great idea. Why not post it in a free paper? There are many seniors who would like the extra help and the social aspect of having someone to talk to in the evenings. Also feeling a bit safer knowing someone else is around. Just make sure to do a background check on them so you know that you are safe. Ask neighbors and meet their kids. Usually that will give you a hint on what they are like.
