Living’s Easy

I’m enjoying my summer so far.  What, you say it’s not summertime yet?  Well it is here in SoCal.  Free sleeping in your van is much easier in warm weather than cold weather.

My toothache is gone.  Hopefully I killed the nerve that was undoubtedly exposed.  Clove is said to do that and so what?  I don’t need to feel anything in a tooth that is hurting me.  Or maybe I’ll have a recurrence of the pain sometime in the future.

I’m gonna get a little crazy here and say something that is much forbidden.  I think modern dentistry, for the most part, is a scam.  I have had cavities over the years that I did not get taken care of.  You read that right.  I didn’t have the money to take care of them.  And you know what?  I still have those teeth.  The only teeth that have given me any trouble were those that were drilled (made the cavity bigger????) and filled with metal.  The metal fell out and that’s when I got pain and decay.

Now esthetically speaking, I don’t have the best looking teeth but that has more to do with yellowing (my permanent teeth came in that way and perhaps it got worse because of coffee/cola drinking).  If I wanted to put some effort into it, I’m sure I could whiten my teeth up fairly inexpensively.  You can even do it in a tanning booth while getting a tan now.  I think it costs $35.

SoCal is the home of beautiful teeth.  Almost everyone has great teeth here…even poor people so one of these days I will have to work on this.  One thing is for sure.  No more fillings.

I have been going to SOS for help with food lately.  I buy charcoal sometimes and tell SOS I have “kitchen facilities” so they can give me uncooked meat to cook on a grill in the park.  This is so much better than fast food and its fun.  D helps me and we eat together.  As you can imagine, if you’ve been reading this blog for a while, I try to appear as little like a homeless person as possible.  I try to keep everything really neat at the park.  One thing I notice about some homeless people is they often put all their bags all over the table at a coffee shop or whatever.  It would be so much better if they would put them under the table.  It’s a little thing but it you are trying to blend in….ah, maybe they don’t care.  That’s their prerogative.

I’m going to try to find a dairy, soy, and gluten free protein mix soon or I may just start buying egg whites in the store and eating those in the morning….or something.  The time has come for me to get healthy.  No more excuses.  D isn’t big on healthy eating and I’m with him a lot.  I have a hard time saying no D, I can’t eat that fast food with you.  It’s not D’s fault though as no one is holding a gun to my head when I eat junk.

The end.

About Maureen, Living in a Van

I'm a free-sleeper living in a van in the prettiest part of the world. I do this partly due to financial circumstances and partly because I love a good adventure.

I too suspect much of modern dentistry is profit-motivated. They create problems, and then sell the solutions. Just like medicine.

You grill at parks? That’s cool!

Glad I’m not the only one who gets it. Most people look at me like I’m crazy when I dare to talk about this. I have a friend who was a dental hygenist for her whole adult life and it was kind of fun the other day when she asked me how my tooth was doing and I said, “all better!”.
