Working on getting some jobs going so I can eat etc.  At a bare bones minimum, I figure I need to earn around $1000 a month to survive.  Here are my rough numbers:

Food-$300-$400/month —–I know, ridiculous…..remember though, I can’t cook so I pay for people to prepare food for me.  I like to eat out with friends a lot too.

Gas-$200/month  Maybe less now that I’m not going to the fancy skyscraper job.

Phone-$50/month  Pre-paid unlimited talk/text and internet—-like to upgrade to a smart phone but that would cost me around $30 more per month

Gym-$38—I haven’t been swimming lately so I am pondering downgrading to the non-pool gyms which would save me $18/month

Storage-$78 a month—ouch but almost non-negotiable but as I’ve mentioned before, it would REALLY be helpful if I had it more organized so I could use it like a closet.  I also need to move it to the city where I’m sleeping if I want to use it like a closet.  I need a closet because I try to dress nice and I my clothes are always falling around the van when I’m driving and getting wrinkled.  It’s driving me up the wall!

PO Box-$19.00/month—Also worth every penny.  This also needs to be changed over to the city where I live.

$50-A website I run and a couple of marketing things I’ve signed up for to help promote my businesses.

$100/month – Car insurance for my youngest daughter and I.  I don’t pay for my older daughter’s insurance because she shares the storage with me and I pay for her half.

As you can see, at this point, I don’t have a budget for clothes or fun or a whole bunch of other things.  I’m just taking babysteps right now-which means my goal is to earn $1000 a month.

Current monthly income from jobs = 0

Time to hustle!

Well can I make a suggestion? One is that you really dont need to cook to eat. Even peanut butter sandwich with fresh fruit can be kind of healthy. If you Google you can find LOTS of ways to eat without any refrigeration. Other then that good luck with your job searching.

    • Maureen says:

That’s good advice Michelle but I’m not supposed to eat wheat so I can’t do the sandwich thing. Even if I could, I really want to prepare food at all in my van. It’s hard enough to keep things clean without having to worry about crumbs or things spilling.

Ah! I though free sleeping was supposed to be cheap. And that’s if nothing breaks!

How many hours are you looking to work? 1000/4 is 250/week or 50 bucks a day for a 5 day week.

    • Maureen says:

Ya I did the math…I can work 6 days if needed. Should probably not work on the Sabbath, of course.

So far I don’t have any new gigs…it’s only been a week though.
