Is Van Living Dangerous?

I suppose in some ways it is.  The locks and alarm system mightnot work as well as yours BUT I don’t think people would expect an old van like mine to contain any valuables either, and they would be right.  Most houses though are assumed to have numerous such items, therefore creating a much more enticing target.

My advice to home-dwellers is to frequently re-assess your neighborhood for safety and plan accordingly.  Patti, my friend, I hope I can call you that,  the incident in the park is a big red flag for me.  When three men feel comfortable targeting a middle aged woman, it spells big trouble.  I mean no disrespect but those men could have hurt you badly and having a house,  husband

You can surely call me friend, and believe me, this incident did cause me to reassess my surroundings. I am skipping walks if I can’t get out fairly early. I am carrying my taser and my phone every single time I go instead of just grabbing the leash with pepper spray when I am in a hurry. I make sure someone knows when I go and when I am expected back. I am more aware when going to the yard or heading to the car. I am memorizing faces of people I see in the park.
If they come for me in my home, I am well equipped and well trained for that, but that option doesn’t work outside my home. Thanks for caring, right back at you. Take care.

Other possibilities, Patti , is to take a companion walker with you , likely you’re not the only one being troubled.
And a disposable camera , for those “just in case photos” taken on the sly.
I remember watching a youtube of a street cam of a purse snatcher attacking a (very) senior lady. She removed her hat pin ( remember those? ) and stabbed him until he left.
    A rather last ditch defense.
