Housing?

I’ve been mentioning before that there is this program I’ve been checking into that helps you get housed again.  They help you pay your rent for awhile…pay your deposit too.  They get you in even if your credit isn’t so great.

Sounds good right?  Well I checked out a complex that fits into this program (the apartment won’t be ready to look at for another week).  It is a 320 sq. ft. studio for almost $1,000 and the neighborhood is…mmmm…not so great.

I guess it’s kinda mean.  I mean, my van makes me look pretty bad.  The people that I saw over there look kinda burnt out, ya know?  And the building is all run-down.

Yuck.

So I will keep looking I guess but I’m really considering buying an RV.  I guess there are places you can park and if you move around a lot (like I usually do) you probably won’t have any trouble.  I would like to talk to more people who do this in the area though before I get too far into it.

I have plenty of time.  It will take me some time to save the $4000? I will need to get a decent camper.  I don’t even know how much I’ll need.  It’s not like I’m going to travel in it so it doesn’t have to run super well or anything right?

Thoughts???

About Maureen, Living in a Van

I'm a free-sleeper living in a van in the prettiest part of the world. I do this partly due to financial circumstances and partly because I love a good adventure.

Tynan did the RV thing. He liked it. There’s alot of people who can give you some good info.

$1000 a month! Wow. That’s way too much.

Don’t forget that it does need to run well – because you’ll need to be moving it around.

I sorta’ think that an RV is much less stealthy than a van. I suspect you’ll have trouble trying to do that. Especially since more and more towns are passing regulations that vans can’t be parked on public streets (with exceptions for getting them ready for traven).
