I have noticed that most people aren’t very grateful for what they have.  They always see the negative in everything and focus on it.  I’m lucky that I have had people in my life that encouraged me to see the positive in things.

That doesn’t mean I just accept bad things in my life and don’t do anything to fix them, but as far as what occupies my waking thoughts, I am thinking about how good I have it.

Today I am house-sitting and taking care of a couple of dogs.  I had to go out into the yard and pick up their poo.  It’s kind of hot outside right now.  I started to feel bad that I had to do this task when it’s so hot.

Then I imagined that I was living in a war-torn country where many buildings have been bombed into rubble, where there isn’t much food available and hunger is gnawing at people’s stomach’s.  There is no house-sitting in a place like that because people don’t go on vacation, they just survive.

It makes me glad that for the time being at least, I am in a safe place with relative prosperity.  I know this can change at any time and that’s why I’m so grateful for what IS, today.

About Maureen, Living in a Van

I'm a free-sleeper living in a van in the prettiest part of the world. I do this partly due to financial circumstances and partly because I love a good adventure.

I found your Blog yesterday , I was looking for Ideas on Living in a Van , I was contemplating going in my customized van to North Dakota , for a Oil Job , I heard there is 3000 a week to earn there , I live in St.Petersburg Florida .
I Loved the Blog , I read from start to finish . I am surprised that you and I think alike . I definitely have some ideas from all over the internet to make Living in a Van as comfortable as possible .
Your Adventures seem much more fun then I will allow myself to have , at least while I am putting my nose to the grindstone . I Think it is Great you can make the Best out of anything you do and don’t let Negativity take your Spirit .
Ryu seems to be Wise & read all his comments as well .
