Free Sleepers

My first night in my new “home” wasn’t so great.

I have never seen so many homeless people in my life as I am seeing in this city.  ALL of them that I have seen are of European descent and they all seem to be tweakers (addicted to methamphetamines).  It’s horrible to see!  Horrible.

I shared the laundrymat with one of these guys last night.  I could see that he was a handsome man, even underneath his grizzled beard.  He wasn’t super skinny like many drug addicts.  He wasn’t doing laundry.  He was taking magazines and writing all over them.  He seemed barely aware of my presence although he did stop talking to himself when I walked in.  Later he went outside and gave a big crazy speech.  He had a strong, good voice.  I alternated between feelings of fear and sorrow while I did my laundry.  My God, why?

On the other hand, I’m afraid one of them will try to break into my van, looking for something to steal.  Then again, my van looks homeless so not sure it’s a big magnet for thieves.  I didn’t sleep well last night.  Perhaps it was just the spot I chose but there was a lot of foot traffic going by, people laughing and playing loud music.  It was probably very civilized stuff going on but I’m not used to it and when I would wake up to it, it scared the bejesus out of me.

The new gym is okay.  It’s an older gym.  The fancy people go to the new gym down the street so there are a lot of men there (they don’t care if the gym is old) but I guess I’m over my worry about working out alongside men.  It feels as comfortable as a gym could feel to me.  I’ll probably get tired of going there twice a day but I like to be clean and I’m glad I’m getting fit, even if I can’t seem to lose weight. (more on that later, perhaps)

I screwed up and forgot that my favorite health food store was going to be closed today for memorial day.  So rather than scour the city for a grocery store and try to figure out what to eat, I just bought a chicken salad sandwich for breakfast.  Not vegan.  Oh well.  I run my diet, not the other way around, right?

I’ve already done a test run this morning, driving to the gym, then work…just to see how long it takes and make sure I have the correct directions.  Turns out that either mapquest or me messed up and I was going the wrong way for a while.   Glad I got that cleared up.  It’s no good to be late for your first day of work.

Today I think I’m going to spend time with my friend that lives down here.  Hopefully I can talk her into going down to the beach.  She hardly ever goes down there but I’m going to push her a little.  It will be fun!

Thanks for reading.  Have a nice day folks!

Ugh. Sounds like you’re in or near a big city. You’ve mentioned being close to a beach. Plenty of disreputable things occur there at night.

Perhaps you ought to change you mindset from losing weight to gaining muscle. Alot of women do not push themselves in the gym because straining is unattractive. It’s true! If one is working in the gym, one will stink, grunt, sweat, and make a spectacle of himself.

Have you ever seen a woman train hard? A woman, not a female bodybuilder? You’ll have to forgive the way it’s presented.

Here’s a cool movie about it. I think you’ll learn alot if you’re interested. The music is great too!

    Hi Ryu,

Yes, it’s a bit cityish here I guess but one thing I like is that there are hardly any illegal immigrants living on the side of town I’m on. Americans make up at least 90% of the residents, I think. Thanks for the vids. I will try to watch them this weekend.
