I find stories about cops and free-sleepers very interesting. I’ve read enough of this guy’s blog to feel he is probably a decent human being. He doesn’t bother anyone. BUT if you are not working much, you aren’t paying taxes toward the all-important WARS and NEW IMMIGRANTS so you are useless to society and therefore subject to constant hassles.
Here he took a photo of a couple in a public place and he had to deal with a cop or two over it.
There’s controversy over whether when dealing with police, one should cooperate and get it over with as soon as possible or exercise ones rights by resisting a bit…when you know darn well you aren’t doing anything illegal.
I tend to be on the resistant side, in theory anyway. Why let tyrants push you around? In reality though, it might depend on how much time I have. If I have to be somewhere soon, I may say, “look, I’ve got to get going. Are you detaining me?” and if I don’t get a positive YES, then I will be on my way. I’ve thought about this a lot. One of these days, I will begin studying the laws around this sort of thing for real, rather than relying on internet accounts for my information.
I can’t remember if I told you guys or not but J beat a “sleeping in his car” ticket recently. It took almost a year and he lost some time/money from work over it. I really admire his spunk in fighting this thing. I want to know more about how he did it because “camping” in your car is illegal in this town by city ordinance. I’ll let you know when I find out more.
