Free-Sleepers at Night

There seem to be two types of free-sleepers at night. (I’m leaving out drug addicts cuz a lot of them stay up all night) I am speaking of both car sleepers and rough sleepers.

There are those that stay until closing time at the library/coffeeshop, eking out every last moment of coolness (in summer), warmth (in winter), light and human contact (limited though it may be).

Then there are those that go to sleep at nightfall because they have nothing better to do.

I am of the first sort.  Free sleeping is hard for me when it’s cold and it’s getting colder.  I DID get a new sleeping bag.  I had given away my old sleeping bag a while back to a rough sleeper so I got a new one last week.  It seems to be a clean, rather old army type sleeping bag.  It has a VERY sturdy looking zipper and it is very thick.  Tonight it will probably get down into the mid 40s so it should be a good test of its effectiveness.  It was supposed to get cold last night but it didn’t, so we’ll see.

Debra the Cobra

It seems The Cobra is back in town up to her usual shenanigans.  If I were doing the stuff she is doing, I would be afraid that someone would beat me up, or worse.  She doesn’t seem to have a normal person’s fear.  I hear there are people like that.  They are missing that gene or something.

J got a van for $400.  It’s one of those cargo vans that doesn’t have a bunch of windows.  I wonder if I would like sleeping in a van like that.  It may feel a little claustrophobic but ahhhh the privacy.  Privacy is really important to me because I’m always afraid of getting caught free sleeping.

I have changed storage units recently.  I may have mentioned before that I need my storage unit to be closer to where I hang out so I can go to it everyday.  This way I can use it like a closet and my van doesn’t have to look quite so “lived in”.  So it’s better.  No more clothes draped over the passenger seat.  No more piles of laundry (clean mostly) piled up in the back.  Still looks a little messy sometimes though.  Can’t seem to get it as clean looking as I’d like.  Oh well.

Still on the search for a good and cheap car.  My van passed smog today – HALLELUJAH!!! so I will prob just use the van for sleeping in…moving it around every day or two and get a (hopefully) decent looking car to drive in.  It seems like it isn’t as easy to find a decent car in my price range as it was last year.  Or maybe I’m actually starting to care more about my life…getting ahead etc.

As anyone who has been reading for a while knows about me, I kind of dropped out of society as much as possible for the last couple of years.

Then I found out…that’s pretty much impossible if you still have to work for money.  I still have to deal with people if I want to eat, run a vehicle, have any sort of normal life.  Even a person living in a cave has to get food somewhere…unless they are hunters but even hunters need weapons for hunting animals…tools etc.

Than I also realized that I DO have dreams and goals and although I hope to never have to work for a corporation again, I MAY be able to obtain my goals by working for myself.  I just need to work at it harder and grow as a person.

This last week God pushed me into the next phase of my business.  I have been dragging my feet for a long time on moving forward but this new client just assumed I did this type of service so now I’m doing it for her!  And I didn’t even have to tell her how much to pay me.  She just pays me what she wants.  And I LOVE it.  It feels good not to have to scrounge for money.  Living in my van allows me to relax, enjoy my work and be creative.  I have some ideas that will make my business really stand out.  And they cost nothing but my time.

So I put out a little advertising last night for the new service I am doing and I already got another client for Friday.  WoW!  I’m so excited!

Life is good.  I hope all of you are doing good too.  Please comment and let me know what you’re up to!

I’m glad your van passed emissions. Fixing that is super expensive.

I hope your new business goes well. You should do alright, you’ve been prepping long enough.
