I’m still trying to get a job. I need money fiercely!
Something bad happened to me last week that I finally feel ready to talk about. I went on a date and somehow MY VAN KEYS ended up in another woman’s purse. It was a friend of the man I was on a date with (it was sort of a double date).
I didn’t have an extra key to the van because when I tried using the vin number to get a key cut, it didn’t work because the ignition in the van had been replaced.
So I didn’t have the van for 3 days while J (T’s husband) helped me figure it out. I’m VERY fortunate that the van didn’t get towed. We scoured the van, looking for my keys. We went to the restaurant we had been at and all the nearby businesses to see if anyone had turned in my keys.
Just a few hours after we replaced the ignition ($150) I got a call from the woman that she had found my keys! Doh!
Thank God I had a place to stay. Thing is, I lost a client over it because she was peeved that I lost her house key which was on the same ring. And it might have a domino effect with another neighbor who uses my services.
So what can I say? This woman made an honest mistake. It turns out we have the same keyring and she thought my keys belonged to her and scooped them into her purse without thinking.
The whole thing has been pretty bad and has really illustrated how precarious my life in the van is. I really didn’t prepare properly. Sure, I’ve had my share of “bad luck” but that happens to everyone. I should have had money set aside though and had a better job or jobs.
So that’s what I’m working on now. Getting more financially stable. If I can get stable enough, I might even rent a room from T and J eventually. My daughter is going to need a place to sleep when she gets out of college in the spring.
Thanks for reading, my friends!
