Cool Ramble

I’m sorry I haven’t written in a while.  I haven’t had much to write about.  I think tonight I’ll just ramble a bit.  I hope that’s ok.

I’ve been noticing that my days are going by much faster that they did when I first started living in my van.  At first the days dragged soooo slowly, I thought they would go on forever.  Now they seem to go at a normal pace again.  I guess that’s because I know where to hang out.  I have about 10 coffee shops I rotate around and I have around 20 sleep spots.  I don’t even worry as much about being at a sleep spot more often than I should.  It’s not like I’m anywhere too often.

I have a routine.  It helps.  I have jobs.  I call a lot of friends to talk.  Sometimes I hang out with friends.  I like that a lot.

Part of my routine:  I might start ending every night at this certain library.  The reason I like it is there’s a nice clean bathroom here and there’s hardly ever anyone in it.  I can wash up and change my clothes and even brush my teeth here and no one ever comes in!  It’s so great.  It really is the little things that make life comfortable.

Today I napped on a friend’s couch with her little dog.  It was so nice waking up with this little dog next to me.  I rather wish I could have a dog in my van but they can be too noisy and I think it would be just too much.  I wouldn’t want to leave a dog in the car all the time when I had to do stuff elsewhere either.

My friend J (T’s husband) gave me a very cool gadget today.  It’s a Thermoelectric Cooler/Warmer made in the USA(!) by Kool Mate.  It plugs into the van’s cigarette lighter.  I can’t wait to use it.  I think I’ll be able to eat so much healthier if I can store a bit of food.  I hope it won’t drain the battery.  We’ll see.

End of ramble.  Hope you liked it!

Try not to become too dependent or reliant on routines as they can be at times a burden and a danger!

Stay safe Maureen, and take care.

Have you ever thought about a little rooftop garden for fresh greens? I’m not sure how that would work, and it may make your van too obvious. It could be a little black plastic plant flat like six-packs of seedlings come in in garden centers, but without the six-pack inserts, so the plant roots have more soil and room in the tray. Put in potting soil or any soil and sprinkle some cheap clearance seeds from last year. Little stuff like lettuce and sprouts. Take it down to water so you don’t have dirt running down your van from the drain holes. I don’t know if it would work, but wanted to share the idea, just in case. Take care!

I do wish I could do something like this but I do believe that it would make the van too obvious. I’m not very good at gardening actually. Last year I helped a friend with hers but she said I watered too much. I always water too much or not enough…never just right. 🙁
