Cold

Wow!  It was in the 40s last nite (It’s 47 degrees still at just after 8am) and I was comfortable sleeping in my van!  I had my winter coat on and one layer of comforter over me and I felt fine.  This is a real relief to me.  I hate being cold and in the past when my thyroid wasn’t working properly, I suffered quite a bit in cooler weather.

I’ll tell you all more about my thyroid issues sometime but suffice it to say, I would rather live in my van with a healthy thyroid than live in a house or condo with a sick one.

It’s going to be a great day, I can feel it!

About Maureen, Living in a Van

I'm a free-sleeper living in a van in the prettiest part of the world. I do this partly due to financial circumstances and partly because I love a good adventure.

Wow! You must be at some altitude to have it that cold overnight. Better you than me … (sorry, I’m *really* a weather wimp!). My best cold-weather garment is my fake ugg boots. Got ’em fairly cheap from Payless, and I bring them along to wear in the evenings when we camp overnight.

I don’t know much about altitude…we’re up a bit but not too high…it just got a bit cold. Honestly it didn’t feel like it was in the 40s so perhaps weather.com was incorrect when it said it was 47 degrees.

    Only three comments:
    1. Dark colored Longjohns
    2. Thick exercise mat to put a space between your and the floor of the van
    3. Emergency blanket

    Exercise mat – CHECK!

    Emergency Blanket – CHECK!

Long Johns sounds like a great idea!

Thanks for all your helpful comments eyewrist!
