Birds

A few years ago when I was living in my condo I had a wonderful tree in front of my kitchen window.  It was very tall and full of leaves.  The most beautiful birds would visit there and I would watch them while I did dishes.  I remember how excited I was to see what seemed like a very rare bright yellow bird.   It gave me such joy to see him.

Then, without warning, I came home from work one day and my tree was gone!  The condo management had had it cut down because its roots were causing plumbing problems!  I was so sad.  I missed my little yellow bird.

Two days ago, I had finished working for the day and decided to take a little nap in my van.  Sometimes sleeping in a van is cozier even than sleeping in a house, especially on a warm day when there’s a light breeze coming in through the windows.  I had a delicious sleep and when I woke up, I found myself, as I often do, staring up at a pretty tree.  And there she was, a beautiful yellow bird!  I know she was a girl because moments after I saw her, along came her more brightly colored mate!  What a gift it is sometimes to sleep in my little van.

Sometimes I’m lonely but lately I have been saying my prayers when this happens and asking Mother Mary to help me not feel so lonely.  It’s working!

I am coming back to my Faith again, after being away for a long time.

The other night I solved a problem in one of my dreams.  That’s never happened to me before.

I feel like I am coming back to life in some ways.  I immersed myself in my boyfriend’s life and problems.  I don’t regret helping him but I kind of lost track of me in the process.  It’s not his fault but mine.

Anyway, I’m in a new chapter now and it feels good.

About Maureen, Living in a Van

I'm a free-sleeper living in a van in the prettiest part of the world. I do this partly due to financial circumstances and partly because I love a good adventure.

I know an HOA that does exactly the same thing. It’s pretty irritating. I’m glad things are going well for you.
