A Hobby of Mine

I’m trying to share more about myself here.  Like most of you, I have lots of interests but I forget to share about them.

I play the stock market.

Well, not really.  I use fake money but still it can be fun.  I can’t remember when I actually started doing this but it was between 1 1/2 to 2 years ago.

They “give” you a million dollars to work with.  I have only invested around $200k or so, so far.  Just got busy with other things, then forgot my password and was too lazy (tired) to do anything about it.  (most websites will email you a new password).

The program says that my portfolio (the companies I am invested in now) is earning at a 9.13% rate (it went down to 9.10% while I was typing this post!)which I don’t think is beating inflation but is better than the 1-2% interest people are earning at their bank!

This not taking into consideration the stocks I sold high and made a profit on at the beginning, before I lost my password.

I also wanted to sell stinking Angie’s List before I lost my password-if I had done that, my return would be a lot better.  Oh well.

Does anyone want to play this game with me?  We will earn alot!  We could pick a day of the week to share what we are doing.  Maybe we will become experts and become millionaires!  I’m still dreaming!  Anyway, please let me know in the comments if you want to play.  It’s freeeeeee!

About Maureen, Living in a Van

I'm a free-sleeper living in a van in the prettiest part of the world. I do this partly due to financial circumstances and partly because I love a good adventure.

Gambling with someone else’s money is easy. Putting your own money on the table is hard.

Nerves play a huge, enormous part. The action of stock picking is easy. Having a nerve to put your own valuable money at stake is very, very hard. I have taken classes in this area. No teacher was ever able to actually do it.

I have done this in the past. I did well gambling with OPM (other people’s money.) Doing it on my own was a whole different game.
